Child Care Aware® of Missouri has been the state’s leading source for child care information, referrals, and child care industry workforce development for more than a decade. The following timeline provides a summary of our evolving roles and growth.
2014: Adoption of new vision, mission and values statements, as part of a new strategic plan for 2014-2017. Organizational restructure to respond to new strategic directions and strengthen organizational outcomes.
2013: One of five states selected for the Taking Steps for Healthy Success initiative, funded by the federal Centers for Disease Control. This initiative seeks to prevent obesity during the early years through training and coaching of child care staff members. Taking Steps for Healthy Success begins process of defining outcomes and performance indicators for our leadership and management (intermediary) functions.
2012: Awarded Child Care Aware® of America Quality Assurance, an accreditation designed specifically for state Child Care Resource and Referral Networks. Strategic planning process begins.
2011: Child Care Aware® of Missouri adopts a Framework for Accountable Service Delivery, establishing desired outcomes and performance indicators to measure progress. First ever annual campaign generates 100% board giving.
2010: MOCCRRN rebrands as Child Care Aware® of Missouri and restructures its organizational model to streamline and strengthen service delivery. Statewide referral center opens and 10 service delivery areas become four regions for service coordination.
2009: MOCCRRN publishes its first Public Policy Platform and is a founding member agency of the Missouri Coalition for School Readiness and Missouri Children’s Leadership Council. Board adopts Fund Development plan and Board Development Plan.
2008: Founding director, Corinne Patton, retires and Dr. L. Carol Scott is named MOCCRRN Executive Director. Board creates a five-year strategic plan for 2009 to 2013.
2007: MOCCRRN’s T.E.A.C.H. MISSOURI Scholarship publishes the on-line Directory of Missouri Early Childhood Certificate and Degree Programs, a free resource for the early childhood community. MOCCRRN is chosen by Zero to Three to participate in the launch of its revised “Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect (PCAN)” curriculum.
2005: MOCCRRN publishes Child Care Keeps Missouri Working, a report on the economic impact of child care on the Missouri economy.
2003: The first annual MOCCRRN Summit is held, a professional development event for staff of the local CCR&Rs.
2001: MOCCRRN pilots the Developing Your Family Child Care Business curriculum, serving 75 women owners of micro-businesses.
1999: MOCCRRN begins services to help families with children with special needs, is licensed to operate the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Missouri Scholarship Project and assists child care programs that want to achieve Accreditation.
1998: Missouri Child Care Resource and Referral Network (MOCCRRN) is incorporated as a 501(c)3 with eight local CCR&Rs serving the 10 service delivery areas.
1992: Federal Child Care and Development Fund Block Grant Act passed, requiring states to provide consumer education and other child care resource and referral services. Ten Missouri service delivery areas are established. Planning for a statewide child care resource and referral system (CCR&R) begins.
