Family Forward offers long-term residential, respite, and hospice care for children with developmental and physical disabilities. They specialize in caring for children with serious medical conditions. On-site respite is available to St. Charles residents offering short term, 24 hour care. They also support children with developmental disabilities from 0 – 21 years of age. Another area of service is transition services and family support. This service assists families of children aged birth through 21 with a support partner who works closely with the family to identify and secure needed services and how to navigate the service systems to become educated advocates for their child. The program also assists with the needs of individual family members to strengthen the family as a whole. This service is free to qualifying St. Charles County residents.

St. Louis Crisis Nursery provides short-term, emergency shelter for children, birth through age 12, to those of the following: who have special medical, developmental, physical and/or emotional needs; and whose families are faced with emergencies or who are in crisis. Children also receive: a physical exam and any needed medication; a developmental assessment; art and play therapy; and therapeutic interventions and treatment plans; all in a safe environment. Families receive counseling, parenting support, and referrals to helpful community resources.
First Steps offers coordinated services and assistance to young children with special needs and their families. It is designed for birth to age 3, who have delayed development or diagnosed conditions that are associated with developmental disabilities.
Nurses for Newborns assist uninsured or underinsured families where the parent and/or infant have a developmental disability by providing in-home visits to monitor and inform parents of the baby’s progress. Parents are provided the training to support and maintain a healthy, safe environment for themselves and their children ages 0-3.
The Child Center, INC. is a Child Advocacy Center, serving child victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and children who witness violence. The Child Center, INC. allows children to share their experience of abuse or neglect in a child-friendly and non-threatening environment. This environment is provided during the following services: forensic interviews, therapeutic services, medical exams, and child and family advocacy.
Therapy 4 Kids is a pediatric home health company that works with parents, guardians, caregivers, and teachers to foster more independence and enhance development throughout a child’s daily routine. They accept most major health insurance plans. They provide physical, occupational, and speed/language therapy. Services are offered in the home, school, or community. Physician prescription is required.
North East Community Action Corporation offers many services and programs to members of the community. These include: energy assistance, family development, financial fitness, housing choice voucher, home ownership, weatherization, WIC, and more.
LaLeche League St. Charles meets every 2nd Saturday at 10am to promote encouragement, education, and information to women who want to breastfeed
